← Back to lettersWe wish to offer you a superficial overview of the intellectual foundations of our social structure at different levels that are familiar to you: COSMOPHILOSOPHICAL, RELIGIOUS-MORAL, PHYSICAL. Such discrimination is artificial for us who consider the chain of the cosmos as a harmonic "whole" that cannot atomize into disciplines or sciences without severely distorting the truth. The links between the different aspects of the universe are so intimate that their mental projection in the form of watertight compartments can become alienating for the one who studies it.
However, transcribing these ideas becomes truly difficult if you take into account the fact that your mental schemas are shaped differently than ours. We cannot use a common intelligible language for both. Right now, in my effort to use verbal idioms in Spanish that are familiar to you, I stifle the flow of ideas that I could express with ease because the meanings of your phonemes cannot correctly interpret my thoughts. Could your brothers Rilke, Neruda, Garcia Lorca have expressed their exquisite sensitivity with the sole verbal instrument of vocabulary extracted from the index of an electronics manual?
For us, it is not a matter of seeking a Spanish phoneme or word that has an analogous meaning to our corresponding word. Even if this first case were achieved, and even with the realization of a complete lexicographical analysis, the complex expressions integrated by these "words" would hide unusual meanings for the topical habits of earthly thought. For this reason, the ideas proposed in these reports to some of your brethren from different nationalities are necessarily "geotropic," that is, they carry a pronounced flavor of "earthly cultural orientation," but this is due to the means of social communication chosen. The evocative power of the phonemes familiar to you blocks any serious intention of exogeo-cultural transference.
The idea of offering you these concepts to serve as a doctrinal basis replacing the pillars of current earthly thought is far from our mind. Reports similar to this one, but with different specific content, have been sent by mail to philosophers, dignitaries of various Churches, graduates of various universities, technicians, publicists, and people of average education from different countries of OYAGAA (Earth). We find that many of your brethren scorned such data by refusing to recognize our true identity. This attitude is orthodox from the "vision" perspective of usual logic.
But even the OEMII of Earth who have kept these typed pages with encouraging curiosity in different languages that have managed to combine, with praiseworthy balance, the mental reserve and secrecy we required, with an open attitude of conditional approval of our testimony, have never been compelled to replace their own ideas and geognosological concepts with ours. We do not wish in any way – rather we urge you – do not fall into the temptation of swapping your religious, scientific, and political-economic ideas with ours. You yourself will recognize the reason for such a warning:
- Firstly: because our reports are purely DESCRIPTIVE. We offer you an account without positive, rational, and convincing arguments that support them.
- It would be absurd for you to graft our naked ideas, concepts, and assertions onto the ideological constellation shaped by your educators on EARTH.
- Moreover, if that were to happen, you would commit a serious extortion of the normal rhythm of social conviviality, harming the future of EARTH's culture.
- A revolution of your structures must forge itself within your own social network. A cosmic morality that we share respectfully forbids us from intervening, except in unforeseeable extreme cases.
We do not come – at least my brothers from UMMO – as prophets descended from heaven to bring you a new doctrine, a new physics, a new religion, new mathematical concepts, or panaceas for your social or pathophysiological ills, relying on our more advanced cultural maturity for that purpose. Likewise, it would not occur to an engineer specializing in terrestrial constructions visiting a school for young children to distort the cycle of childhood education by trying to explain to UYIIE how to build a cantilever bridge using reinforced concrete voussoirs. Naturally, this specialist could use comparisons and expressions accessible to embryonic brains so that they can understand the technology that allows for the crossing of large spans through the construction of these structures. It is unnecessary to emphasize that a lesson of this nature is ill-timed in a child pedagogical cycle.
The purity of our intentions can be observed through the process used to contact you. If we truly wished to introduce our own mental world, we would engage in proselytism supporting our texts with demonstrations, even sophisticated ones. We would no longer insist that our stay on EARTH is due exclusively to a vital necessity, which you will understand, to study and analyze your biocultural evolution. It is only after understanding that your own barriers of skepticism protect us that we decided on this attempt at intellectual symbiosis.
We now offer you these documents knowing they will be met with reluctance, and we make them the custodians of the men of EARTH like you, who, imbued with interest in exobiological themes, would keep them at least until objective and true evidence sanctions the authenticity of their genesis. This is the only thing we advocate: Do not believe us. Welcome these concepts with skepticism. Do not disclose them for now in mass communication circles. Show yourself even skeptical toward OEMII unfamiliar with this science (the one analyzing these facts), but do not destroy these printed sheets. With a few thousand others distributed secretly, they constitute the historical precedent of the budding relations between our two human networks.
We will make, sir, a sincere and ruthless critique of all the more or less given versions circulating among your brothers about mine. Ultimately, such formulations possess an undeniable logical basis since necessarily the strange relations that we maintain abnormally with you must submit to speculation. Without being able to enter your own logical frameworks, the probability that we are simply stating the truth must rely on interpretations which for any serious and impartial analyst would seem so absurd and bizarre and for them as a refutable hypothesis.
We refuse to engage in endless cabals that we rationally consider futile, for if, as they believe, our origin is terrestrial, the phenomenon of "anonymous letters delivered to less than 200 humans by "mad scientists" or "fellow members of an ideological group" does not merit too much attention; there are many appealing virgin fields in the world that still exist to be analyzed and studied. But if your hypothesis about our identity lacks sufficient substance, we cannot unfortunately refute certain accusations that, with our attitude, influence your brothers of the EARTH.
It can be naturally objected that if we are a social group, among many that exist in different countries, it is our right to introject our own ideology. Moreover, when this does not violate the fundamental principles of moral order that are considered basic in the current classes of the Earth, and when they do not clash violently with the principles of the many current ideologies that are pleasing to you. If this challenge makes no sense to some of your brothers, it fills us with sorrow, because if it has a real basis it violates and perverts in your innermost roots our true intention, our objective which is precisely the opposite: To respect the multiple forms of culture that reign on Earth.
An evolved culture like that contrary to the one on Earth that we have on OUMMO is not injectable or copyable without causing serious disturbances among you. Dreaming of being inspired by them to attempt to positively modify your own ideological patterns is acceptable as a mere dream phenomenon. Attempting to implement and translate your patterns to artificially couple them with your moral, political, and philosophical frameworks seems to us (with sufficient judgment elements) to be a childish naïveté and an experience doomed to failure.
We are also concerned about the adventurous attitude of your brothers who, after reading our anonymous reports, torture their minds by trying to inhibit their beliefs and substitute them with purified ideals reigning in a social framework as different as that of OUMMO. We do not believe that, by prejudging this way, our statement implies a contemptuous attitude towards the ideologies of the EARTH. We have precisely insisted in all simplicity on the fact that, among the multiple ideologies of the EARTH and in the group of thinkers of your brothers, ethical principles of sublime nature may be selected that we ourselves revere.
We can teach you nothing in this area, just as we can teach you nothing in the fields of art, sound coordination, or the shaping of forms and colors, fields in which you are great masters compared to us. Another question is that, concerning our special idiosyncrasy and advanced evolutionary state, we have socially assimilated socio-ethical patterns that, for you, still present themselves as unreachable ideals.
Apparently, it is easy to refute the nature of our scruples; whichever your seemingly reasoned simplistic arguments, it may be objected that the solution is quite simple: If our aim is to avoid any impregnation of cultures external to the Earth, nothing is simpler than suspending this postal or telephonic correspondence with the people of the EARTH. When we initiated these contacts, we judged that we had found the ideal procedure that satisfied a long series of requirements. We are allowed to contact the OEMII of the EARTH without disturbing the SOCIAL NETWORK. This ultimate principle is fundamental for our expeditionary body on EARTH for very important reasons.
Altering the biosocial process that we are attempting to analyze is considered by us to be an abomination. Furthermore, we consider such a disturbing influence to be unethical. No civilization should influence the normal evolutionary process that another SOCIAL NETWORK undertakes. We discovered, not without astonishment, through timid trials full of reserve and caution, that it was indeed possible to communicate with the OEMII of this solidified star without such information dangerously spreading among the surrounding social environment. Thus, we were able to dialogue or write our information to the people of the EARTH without disturbing the development of the SOCIAL NETWORK since the skepticism (logical on the other hand) of its nodes or members acted as an effective buffer against the dissemination of information.
Subjected to experience, this immunity proved to be fully effective. In this way, we fulfilled two new requirements. On one hand, to compensate in some way for THE SOCIETY OF THE EARTH the informational heritage it provides us during our systematic analysis of the geological, ecological, and cultural environment of this cold star: with the exchange of other dosed information regarding our civilization and other aspects of OUMMO. But we nurture the hope of a future contact with the civilization of the EARTH and we attempt to experiment on a small scale.
Scale the social consequences on you of a revelation of our presence on this planet. This ultimate forecast is frustrating since we have predicted that such a presence would be traumatic for the cultural evolution of EARTH, but it is also possible that you manage to accept that we have been scientifically among you on a study mission for years. To this end, we consider the documents we give you as valid and that may serve as testimony in the near future. For this, we conduct various tests, choosing your brothers from different social and cultural strata, races, and nations.
We need the recipients of these documents to at least choose to keep them out of simple curiosity, even while adopting a logical reserve regarding their content, until their observation becomes possible through impeccable scientific means. The first results were discouraging. These men of science, thinkers, and opinion leaders with whom we established contact either tore the texts apart without reading them, found them in contradiction with their own cultural schemas, or used certain passages of these texts to publish alongside their works, without accepting (except in very isolated cases) to consider the request for preservation at least as reports coming from other beings of EARTH.
Except for the isolated cases mentioned, precisely the humans of origins within the middle cultural social strata, who were the most disposed to seriously consider the possibility that such texts could be written by my brothers. Thus, a warm bond was established with p.
